Bids Sought for Rhode Island Waterfire Dredging Project

The Rhode Island Coastal Resources Council and The Nature Conservancy are accepting bids for the Waterfire Dredging Project. The work would remove approximately 22,000 cubic yards of sand from the Woonasquatucket and Providence Rivers with dredging extending from bank to bank..

It is anticipated a hydraulic dredge will be best suited for the project. The dredge will need to fit under low clearance bridges and maneuver in tight spaces and will need to pump the material into a high-speed dewatering device mounted on a barge. Dried material will be beneficially reused at a location on the Quay in East Providence. Work should begin on or near November 1, 2019, and complete in February 2020.

The project is funded through the RI Coastal Resources Management Council (CRMC). The Nature Conservancy will be the chief project administrator.

A mandatory Pre-Bid Conference will be held at the site, on June 25 at 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of Dyer Street and Dorrance Street in Providence, RI.
