DSC Dredge Produces Electric Dredge for Nugent Sand Company

Nugent Sand Company of Louisville, Kentucky, has ordered a new Marlin Class electric dredge from DSC Dredge, LLC. The two companies first talked about the purchase at the NSSGA 2018 Annual Convention and AGG1 Expo, held in Houston, Texas. Tom Nugent, president of Nugent Sand Company, who also serves on the NSSGA board of directors, explained, “NSSGA provides an excellent setting for aggregate producers and suppliers to engage and generate solutions for their requirements. DSC Dredge listened to our needs, evaluated our production specifications and helped us make the right choice for Nugent Sand Company.”

Nugent Sand Company produces sand and gravel for commercial, residential and infrastructure projects and distributes products by truck, rail or barge.

DSC Dredge, LLC will produce a fully electric powered cutter head suction dredge that will mine to a depth of 80 feet, with estimated production of 700 tons per hour. The dredge will be delivered to a mine site to operate in a pit being dry-mined down to the water table. The dredge will feed a dewatering wheel before material is conveyed to the processing plant. Nugent Sand Company has been operating this mine for more than 30 years.
