Boskalis Nederland Partners with GoodFuels to Reduce CO₂

Boskalis Nederland and biofuel supplier GoodFuels have formed a partnership to further Boskalis’ sustainable practices and its goal of obtaining a 35 percent reduction in CO2 emitted by its fleet and equipment.

Boskalis Nederland has conducted various trials that have shown sustainable biofuels such as those by GoodFuels maintain performance, while reducing CO2 emissions by 90 percent compared to fossil fuels. Boskalis used a B50 biofuel blend with 50 percent paper industry residual products for its cutter suction dredger Edax during the six-month Marker Wadden project in 2016. The biofuel blend resulted in a significant CO2 reduction leaving Boskalis Nederland to use this fuel for its vessels and dry earthmoving equipment and trucks.

GoodFuels biofuels are made from pure sustainable residual flows that do not compete with the food chain or result in the deforestation of rainforests. Its products are under the supervision of an independent sustainability board consisting of leading NGOs and academics.
