International Seminar on Dredging and Reclamation to be Held in Panama

The International Association of Dredging Companies (IADC) is holding the International Seminar on Dredging and Reclamation from October 15 to 19 in Panama. The event, held in cooperation with local technical universities, is designed for professionals in dredging-related industries, such as port and harbor authorities, governments and organizations that conduct dredging projects. This five-day course includes lectures and workshops and site visits to provide an understanding of the requirements needed to complete a dredging project.

The course includes an overview of the dredging market and development and maintenance of ports; descriptions of dredging equipment and conditions for their use; dredging and reclamation techniques; project phasing; site and soil investigations; costing of projects and types of contracts; design and measurement of dredging and reclamation projects; and designing and estimating from the contractor’s view.

The schedule is divided into different topic themes for each day. Day one will be “The Need for Dredging/Project Phasing”; day two, which also includes site visits, is “Dredging Equipment;” day three is “Production, Tender and Hydraulic Fills;”’ day four is “Cost Pricing, Survey;” and the final day is “Contracts.”
