DEME launched its latest trailing suction hopper dredge Bonny River on April 15 at Royal IHC’s partner yard COSCO Guangdong Shipyard in China. The trailing suction hopper dredge has a capacity of 15,000 cubic meters (529,720 cubic feet) and a maximum dredging depth of 102 meters (335 feet). The Bonny River combines various functions. It has the ability to dredge hard soil with its heavy-duty suction tube and is able to reach great depths with its XXL tube. This green flagship for DEME has dual-fuel engines, a closed process water circuit to minimize turbulence and both Cleanship and Green Passport notations for air and water pollution prevention strategies. In the coming weeks, the ship will be commissioned and put into operation.
