DREDGING IN ST. JOSEPH HARBOR BEGINS

An MCM Marine dredge arrived from Sault Ste. Marie in mid-May to begin dredging the outer harbor of St. Joseph Michigan on Lake Michigan’s eastern shore across the lake from Chicago. Representative Fred Upton who represents the district in Congress had earlier announced $1 million to help pay for the work.

The dredged sand will be deposited along the banks to replenish local beaches.

Dredging of the inner harbor will have to wait until a salmon spawning restriction ends July 6.
