On March 3 the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District hosted a stakeholder partnering forum meeting with non-federal sponsors customers and agency partners to collaborate on best practices for ecosystem restoration navigation flood risk management and regulatory oversight.
Another forum took place August 27 2015 following the initial meeting in February 2015. The forum included a number of presentations and facilitated discussions aimed at providing a venue for stakeholders to understand and interact on the latest news and information about Corps programs and projects. A key goal for the forums the Corps said is identifying opportunities for better synchronizing and integrating Corps support for stakeholder commitments and interests.
The afternoon session included breakout sessions for discussion on negotiation the planning and project management process charting new territory in the WRRDA 2014 era; meeting milestone schedule and product delivery commitments an active management approach; partner communications inclusiveness and transparency; setting and measuring district performance The March 2016 forum followed a similar objectives/standards improving business acumen.
The March 2016 forum followed a similar format. Presentations in the morning addressed an outlook of the district’s programs and the evolving performance objectives/metrics; updates and changes to Corps policies and processes and how that might impact stakeholder partnering; and a number of stakeholder presentations on Corps partnered projects.
The afternoon breakout sessions included discussions on developing and submitting proposals for Section 7001 requests for fiscal year 2016; best practices and lessons learned for advancing projects across; and co-developing solutions through Engineering with Nature principles and regional sediment management.
