Chinese and Korean shipbuilders have chosen Kongsberg Maritime’s Full Picture solution for 13 new-build offshore vessels with a total value of 330 MNOK.
Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Offshore Co. (DSIC) CIMC Raffles (CIMC) Cosco Shipyard (COSCO) and Hudong Zhonghua Shipyard (HDZ) in China Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) and Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) in Korea are the shipbuilders that have selected the equipment. Kongsberg Maritime will provide integrated dynamic positioning (DP) automation navigation and hydroacoustic positioning.

Heerema Marine Contractors (HMC) has also selected Kongsberg Maritime’s K-Sim Offshore simulation platform for crane operator training and the safe implementation of heavy lift operations. Kongsberg said the contract was signed on May 21 2014 and delivery of the offshore heavy lift crane simulator is planned for September 2015. It will be installed at a new simulation center in the HMC Academy at the company’s headquarters in Leiden the Netherlands.
Kongsberg Maritime will supply two offshore crane operator domes and a DNV Class A bridge with K-Sim DP simulator which is based on the same Kongsberg Maritime K-Pos DP systems used on Heerema’s vessels. To achieve highly realistic training the K-Sim Offshore simulator will feature detailed models of three HMC deepwater construction vessels; Thialf (Semi-Sub) Balder (Semi-Sub) and Aegir in addition to several barges (including H-851) and a supply vessel.

Finally UiT the Artic University of Norway has selected Kongsberg Maritime to provide upgrades and extensions of its existing ship’s bridge simulators for navigation and DP training including human factor studies.
UiT’s focuses on maritime and offshore training human factor studies and R&D projects to strengthen knowledge and competence of advanced operations in the polar environment. The Arctic is of increasing global importance particularly in climate change research.
UiT also awarded Kongsberg a contract for extending the existing main ship’s bridge simulator with a new 6 DOF (degrees of freedom) motion platform more visual channels and integration with a DNV class A Dynamic Positioning (DP) simulator.
