ALLU Assists Ohio Cleanup Project

ALLU Group Inc. continues work on a job site in Ashtabula Harbor Ohio with its in-situ Mass Stabilization System and its D-Series Screener Crusher processing attachments. The cleanup project will dredge 120000 cubic yards of sediment from the harbor bottom.

The dredged sediment will be treated and placed into an existing wastewater settling pond near the harbor. Using two ALLU PM Power Mixers contractors mixed a binding agent into approximately 200000 cubic yards of pond sediment. The ALLU PM attachments are excavator-mounted. Powered by the excavator’s hydraulic system each PM has two rotating mixing drums which can mix at depths of up to 21 feet. Binding agents may be injected pneumatically by the ALLU PF Pressure Feeder directly to the area being mixed through an internal nozzle located at the base of the PM or PMX mixing drums.

In some areas of the settling pond previously excavated material is being mixed with a binding agent using two ALLU Screener Crushers.

The treated sediment will double as fill material to create and support a crowned cap during the Ohio EPA-approved closure of the nine-acre pond.
