The Education section of the second Agg1 conference will contain a significant focus on dredging. The Mining Reclamation and Dredging committee met by conference call on June 30 and discussed potential topics for the 2010 conference which will be held in Cincinnati on February 15 through 18 at the Duke Energy Convention Center. Fifteen topics were suggested both in the conference call and in succeeding days of which six were on dredging reported Charles Johnson committee member.

Some specific topic and presenter suggestions were: Selection of Excavation and Support Equipment for Sand and Aggregates Operations presenters: two producers; Methods of Underwater Excavation by Chris Nelson and Damon Gonzales; Dealing with Clay in Dredge Deposits author to be determined; Matching Production Requirements with the Deposit Dredge and Plant presenter to be determined; Mechanical Dredge Case Study Presenter tentatively Watson Gravel.

Chris Nelson of Supreme Manufacturing suggested that the talks be presented by producers rather than vendors to give hands-on information to attendees regarding choosing correct equipment for various deposits and their success in using this equipment.

The 2009 Agg1 dredging program included a number of producers who were invited to present talks and all concerned agreed that this created a successful program.
A tentative schedule of presentations has been formulated and will be finalized in the coming months. They will contain both mechanical and hydraulic dredging as topics.

Participating in the conference call were: Steve Kirk Martin Marietta Materials; Charles Saunders Marshall Miller & Associates; Steve Hatfield Cornejo Materials; Alberto Ramirez Teichert Materials; Damon Gonzalez Dredging Supply Company; Charlie Johnson Dredging Supply Company; Mike Carlson Dredging Supply Company Jerry Mock The Shelly Company; Kevin Finnegan Flexco; Rick Everist L. G. Everist Inc.; Jay Kaczmarowski Continental Placer Inc.; Chris Nelson Supreme Manufacturing; and Catherine Whalen NSSGA Coordinator of Operations Membership and Marketing.

The first Agg1 conference was held in March 2009 in Orlando. The National Stone Sand and Gravel Association (NSSGA) is the show owner and the Association of Equipment Manufacturers is the conference manager. It is co-located with the World of Asphalt conference.
