CHEC Wins Saudi Job

China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd. (CHEC) was awarded a $586 million contract for design and construction of a new port in Ras Azzawr Saudi Arabia.

His Excellency the Minister of Transport chairman of the board of the Saudi Ports Authority signed the contract on January 15 2008 in Riyadh.

Attending the ceremony were Eng. Ali Al-Naimi minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and Dr. Khaled Ahmed Bubshait president of the Saudi Ports Authority.

Dr. Bubshait noted that a number of international companies competed for this project and that the Chinese company won the contract following a public international bid.
