International Dredging Review

As of November 6 IHC Holland was integrated with its parent company IHC Holland Merwede BV to form one company to be known as IHC Merwede BV.

The name change reflects the integration of six shipyards into one company. The yards – IHC Dredgers BV in Kinderdijk IHC Holland Beaver Dredgers BV in Sliedrecht Merwede Shipyard BV in Hardinxveld Giessendam IHC Krimpen Shipyard BV in Krimpen aan de Ijssel IHC Dredgers BV in Heusden and IHC Dredgers BV in Hendrik Ido Ambacht – belonged to IHC Caland NV until 2005.

The expansion is in response to unprecedented demand for dredges and offshore vessels since the first quarter of 2006.

IHC’s independent business unit IHC Engineering Services provides engineering on construction of dredges at yards not belonging to IHC. This unit operating independently for more than 40 years has engineered supervised construction and assisted in deliveries of dredges all over the world including hopper cutter clamshell bucket ladder and other types.

Dredge Technology Corporation is fully-owned subsidiary of IHC established 30 years ago to serve the United States dredging market.

Recent DTC contracts in North America include the design of trailing suction hopper dredges the design of large cutter suction dredges renovation of hopper and cutter dredges including the supply of New Generation dragheads and proviging elements of its “Life Cycle Support” to customers in spare parts training mid-life refit design changes and feasibility studies.

DTC will continue to provide these services in 2008.
