Western Dredging Association Executive Director Lawrence Patella has announced that the Brazil Chapter’s first annual conference will be held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday December 9 through Wednesday December 12 2007.
The negotiated room rates of US $125 per night will be available from Thursday December 6 through Saturday December 15 allowing attendees extra time to visit the city and surrounding area.
The room rate includes a complimentary breakfast in the hotel restaurant.
The conference events will include three days of technical presentations a site visit to a dredging project a reception on the evening of Sunday December 9 lunches on December 10 and 11 congress dinner on the evening of December 11 and spouses and accompanying person’s tours.
Paulo Rodriguez director general of Terpasa Dragagem will coordinate the plans for the program including four to six technical papers to be presented on Monday December 10 the dredging site visit and financial sponsors for the technical and social events.
The Western Dredging Association and Texas A&M University will coordinate technical and environmental presentations on Tuesday and Wednesday December 11 and 12.
“The Western Dredging Association welcomes the interest shown by our Brazilian counterparts in sharing with others and us throughout Brazil and the Western Hemisphere their knowledge experience and expertise in their areas of dredging navigation and marine engineering and its impact on the global economy and the marine environment” said Patella.
