Dredge America Inc. a national portable hydraulic dredging company was recognized by the United States Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District on December 6 and 7 for two awards: “2006 Zero Accident Award” and “2006 Safety Honor Roll Award.”
Both awards were presented to Dredge America employees Mike Kerns and J.B. Pellicer at a ceremony in Nashville Tennessee. The awards recognize contractors who maintain zero lost time accidents and deliver exceptional performance in maintaining accident levels below South Atlantic Division (SAD) frequency rates.
Company President Dan McDougle explained that the company maintains a safety culture in which everybody watches out for each other. This philosophy is ingrained in people when they are hired. Emphasis is on wearing safety gear and not taking chances.
The company has an annual week-long Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) training session.
Dredge America is headquartered in Kansas City Missouri and has five dredges. Usually three are working at one time for a total of 12 to 14 contracts a year. The company has 25 employees seven in the office and 18 in the field.
