Beier Radio Vice President and General Manager C. Joseph Mouton Jr. announced that Beier Radio has signed a contract with Bourbon Offshore to deliver 36 DP-2 systems for their vessels to be built in China.

“Bourbon Offshore has made a major commitment to become the leader as a modern offshore support provider” Mouton said. “They have invested resources in people and technology to build the next-generation offshore vessels and our systems will help them continue to provide that world-class support.”

This contract is part of Bourbon’s plan to expand their fleet with innovative and high-productivity vessels. It calls for the installation of the Beier IVCS 2000 an integrated vessel control system (ABS DP-2) and the Beier IVMS 2000 an integrated vessel management system on 26 anchor-handling tug/supply vessels (AHTS’s) with 80 tons of bollard pull and on ten economical platform supply vessels (PSV’s) of 1600 tons of deadweight.

“We are very proud that Bourbon Offshore has chosen Beier Radio to install our dynamic positioning and management systems” Mouton said. “This contract shows the continued respect that our systems have with the marine industry and allows us to share Bourbon’s vision for the development of their offshore operations.”

Bourbon Offshore is present in 23 countries with 2500 employees and has a modern fleet of 190 multi-purpose vessels with more than 90 additional vessels on order or under construction.

Beier Radio established in 1945 supplies electronic systems to the marine industry for navigation vessel control and maneuvering equipment monitoring communications and steering control. They are based in Belle Chasse Louisiana.

“Our dynamic positioning systems are useful for not only allowing a vessel operator to hold position (an offshore supply vessel at a rig for example) but are also used for holding exact direction and course and is invaluable to vessels that have specific projects that requiring precise movement like pipe laying dredging ROV tracking cable lay and repair hydrographic survey wreck survey salvage and removal rock dumping (pipeline protection) and much more” said David H. Gauthreaux Beier marketing manager.

“One Louisiana company that uses our electronic equipment is Diamond Services in Morgan City. Their services are dredging pipeline marine transportation and others” said Gauthreaux.
