A new round of geotechnical tests will begin this week in Government Cut channel site of the future Port of Miami Tunnel. Prospective bidders had indicated they wanted more information before seeking the contract to design build finance operate and maintain that project.
“Knowing more about what lies beneath the channel will give potential bidders greater ability to estimate their costs when responding to the Request for Proposals we plan to issue this summer” said Javier Rodriguez FDOT District 6 director of Transportation Development.
Data gathered will help reduce risks that might arise during the building process. Test results will be detailed in a series of geotechnical reports that will be posted on the project website www.portofmiamitunnel.com.
