Abstracts for papers to be presented at the Western Dredging Association’s 2005 annual meeting WEDA XXV and the 37th Annual Texas A&M Dredging Seminar are due on December 17. Authors should submit a one-page abstract to one of the members of the technical paper committee listed below. Notification of acceptance will be by January 14 2005 and final manuscripts are due on April 15 2005.

The theme of the technical conference is “Dredging for Sustainability”. Suggested topics are dredging and navigation dredging systems and techniques new dredging equipment surveying cost estimating dredging challenges project case studies automation river and inland dredging contaminated sediments numerical modeling geotechnical aspects Superfund projects beach nourishment beneficial uses of dredged material and wetland creation and restoration.

Submission of abstracts imply a firm commitment from the author to present the paper at the conference.

The conference will be held at the Astor Crowne Plaza hotel in New Orleans on June 18 through 23 2005. Members are encouraged to watch the WEDA website www.westerndredging.org for announcements.

This is the silver anniversary meeting of the organization. Executive Director Larry Patella has announced that nominations for next year’s Dredger of the Year are being accepted. They can be emailed to him at WEDA@comcast.net or submitted by phone at 360-750-0209.
