Lübecker Maschinenbau Gesellschaft mbH (LMG) will present a report on the building of Jan de Nul’s new hopper dredge Vasco da Gama at WODCON XVI. The talk will address some interesting aspects of the design and building process of this vessel. Using eye-catching graphics the paper will show the process from theory to execution said Eckehard Adrian director of engineering for LMG. In some areas new design approaches had to be found in order to realize the ambitious requirements required by the client and the sheer size of the vessel he said.
The 33000-cubic-meter Vasco Da Gama was delivered and put into service in June 2000 by a consortium of Krupp Fördertechnik’s Marine Technology division (now LMG) and Thyssen Nordseewerke Emden.
LMG was formed from Krupp Fördertechnik’s Marine Technology Division in summer 2000. (See IDR June/July 2000 German Dredge Builder Acquired By LMG Assumes Traditional Name) The company continues to provide a full range of services as dredge builder dredge designer component supplier and service company with a focus on improving the service aspect of the business.
“We look forward to meeting with known experts at WODCON to discuss the vision of LMG in the dredging market” said Adrian.
