Administration Creates Gulf Coast Working Group
Water Resources Coalition Newsletter
The Obama Administration has created the Gulf Coast Interagency Working Group, which will focus on the restoration and protection of coastal ecosystems and communities on the Louisiana and Mississippi coasts. The working group will serve as a pilot program for addressing the effects of climate change on coastal regions, and will enable federal agencies in the Gulf Coast region to come together and develop a strategy to increase resiliency in the area.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is the coordinating agency for the group, and representatives from the Army Corps of Engineers, the Department of the Interior, the Environmental Protection Agency, FEMA, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the Department of Agriculture will be included.
