Shallow Draft Conference Coming Up

AAPA’s inaugural Shallow Draft Ports Seminar will debut October 5-6, 2005, at the Sheraton Station Square Hotel in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, hosted by the Port of Pittsburgh. The seminar’s theme, “Connecting Ports for Success,” aptly describes the program’s goal of raising awareness of the benefits to be gained by linking deep and shallow draft ports and carriers and seeking new ways to partner and grow.

Session topics will include: port to port marketing opportunities and challenges; competing in a global marketplace; intermodal connections; connecting shippers to carriers to port to port; a case study of the Columbia River ports; infrastructure needs for shallow draft ports; short sea shipping; and international perspectives on shallow draft shipping.

The seminar will cover business, marketing and partnering opportunities for AAPA members and others throughout the Western Hemisphere. The program will follow and complement the SmartRivers 21 Conference and Symposium on Inland Navigation to be held October 3-4, also at the Sheraton Station Square in Pittsburgh. AAPA’s seminar will begin with a welcome reception on the evening of October 4 at the hotel.

Registration: The registration fee for members is $295.00 for members and $395.00 for non-members. To register, please complete the attached registration form and mail or fax it back to AAPA headquarters as soon as possible.
