Corps Restricts Military Assets

On September 11, the Norfolk District Army Corps of Engineers established temporary restricted areas around military assets in and around navigable waters of the United States n the Commonwealth of Virginia. Several official restricted areas exist in the waters around military installations, but they do not apply to military assets, such as ships, located away from those installations in private shipyards or commercial docks.

The temporary Restricted Areas established on September 11 give Commanders the authority to create exclusion zones in the waters around any military assets during times of heightened security (Force Protection/Threat Condition Charlie or Delta), for up to 30 days.
