WEDA Midwest Chapter Omaha Meeting Focuses Beneficial Use, Contaminated Sediment, Safety and More

The Western Dredging Association (WEDA) Midwest Chapter met in Omaha, Nebraska, from March 8 to 10 at the Embassy Suites Old Market hotel to discuss local projects and issues and chapter business matters, as well as some time for networking. Eighty people attended the event, along with 20 sponsors.

J.F. Brennan, Wallace McGeorge Crew Receive Safety Awards

The Western Dredging Association (WEDA) presented its 2016 Annual Safety Awards to J.F. Brennan & Company and Pine Bluff Sand & Gravel Company at the WODCON Awards Banquet on June 16. The awards were given to a dredging project and to a dredging contractor

MVAGC Construction Roundtable Highlighted Exemplary Safety Performance

The Mississippi Valley Associated General Contractors (MVAGC) chapter honored seven area contractors with 2015 Superior Safety Performance Awards at their 2016 Construction Roundtable Meeting on February 26. The con-tractors were from up and down the Mississippi River and were chosen by the contracting U.S. Army Corps of Engineers districts for exemplary safety records during specific contracts. Three of the awardees were dredging contractors.

Wilmington District and Dredge Currituck Assist with Boulder Removal in Connecticut

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Wilm-ington District and the dredge Currituck came to the aid of the New England Division, which called upon the district to remove boulders in the Narragansett Bay in Connecticut, which were posing navigation hazards.

Great Lakes Joins Safety Week Celebration

Great Lakes Dock and Dredge Co. (GLDD) joined national and global construction companies in celebrating Safety Week from May 4 to May 10. Through its involvement in the Incident and Injury Free (IIF) CEO Forum, which joined the Construction Industry Safety (CISI) group, GLDD joined the event to collectively raise awareness of safety issues on the jobsite and beyond.
