WEDA Announces Call for Papers for Meeting in Norfolk 2018

The next annual meeting of the Western Dredging Association (WEDA) will be at the Hilton Norfolk The Main Hotel in Norfolk Virginia from June 25 to 28 2018. The theme for this year’s conference is “Navigating a Future in Dredging” which will focus on dredging presentations with an emphasis on research technology development and pilot-scale projects within academia government and industry. WEDA also announced the first call for papers for the technical sessions. The deadline to submit abstracts is January 15.
Speakers are encouraged to provide presentations that highlight the application of the work’s findings to future logistical technical and economic constraints and regulatory requirements within the dredging environment. This year’s conference location in Norfolk Virginia also provides an opportunity to highlight naval projects and Chesapeake Bay related topics.
Interested authors are invited to submit one-page abstracts (less than 400 words along with a descriptive title and author(s) contact information). All abstracts are to be submitted via email to Info@WesternDredging.org.
The Technical Papers Committee will review all abstracts and notify authors of acceptance and provide final manuscript instructions for production of the Dredging Summit & Expo ‘18 proceedings. Submission and acceptance of an abstract means that one or more of the authors MUST register pay registration fees attend the 2018 Dredging Summit & Expo and give the presentation in English.
In addition to the areas of focus around this year’s theme “Navigating the Future in Dredging” and local area projects other topics that will be considered include but are not limited to: improving dredge safety; treatment of dredged sediments; innovative equipment and techniques; land reclamation; dredging research & education; surveying & mapping; budgeting & cost estimating; dredging for beach nourishment; new dredging equipment; environmental dredging & capping; dredging for flood control; deep sea mining/dredging; geotechnical aspects of dredging; beneficial reuse of dredged sediments; and navigation channel design.
