DREDGING WORKS ANNOUNCED FOR PORT OF MACEIÓ

In September Brazil’s minister of transports aviation and ports Maurício Quintella announced that the country will invest BRL 100 million ($30.7 million USD) to dredge then reform the port of Maceió located in the city of same name in the state of Alagoas. With the investment the port could receive larger ships and cruises while also boosting tourism in the region. Local media Tribuna Hoje said dredging is aimed at increasing draft size and depth so the port can receive large cruise ships.
