Boustany in Runoff Election

Waterways advocate Charles Boustany (R-La.) will face tea party candidate Jeff Landry in a run-off election on December 8 for the Louisiana Third District House of Representatives seat. The district includes Southwest Louisiana and Acadiana.

The two Republicans were forced into the same district when Louisiana lost a congressional seat after the latest federal census.

Neither received 50 percent of the vote on November 6 in a five-person race. Boustany received 44.7 percent of the vote while Landry received 30 percent. The other three candidates received few votes but their candidacy resulted in no candidate receiving the required 50 percent.
