Weir Group Acquires Linatex

The Weir Group PLC finalized the acquisition of the Linatex group of companies on September 17, 2010.
Linatex will be a member of the Weir Minerals portfolio, marketed as Linatex® rubber products, joining the Weir Minerals product line serving the mining, dewatering, energy, oil and gas, transportation, milling, processing, general industrial and water/waste management markets.

The proposed acquisition was announced on June 14, 2010, and was finalized after receiving regulatory clearance from the South African competition authorities on September 9.

In North America, Linatex Corporation of America based in Gallatin, Tennessee and Sept-Iles, Quebec. Its fully-owned subsidiary, Durex Products, located in Luck and St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin and Windfall, Indiana, as well as Linatex Durex Canada, of New Liskeard, Ontario, will be rebranded as Weir Minerals–Linatex.

“Linatex products are a perfect complement to our portfolio,” said Scot Smith, Weir Minerals Divisional Managing Director. “Linatex works well in tandem with many of our existing products, as well as bringing exciting new and diverse solutions for us to offer our customers throughout all of our markets.”
