The Buxton II During Holland Outer Channel Job

The 16-inch cutterhead dredge Buxton II tied up at Holland Michigan in March 2007 during a project to dredge the Holland Outer Channel. The dredge is owned by The King Company of Holland Michigan. In January 2007 five of the eight engines on board were rebuilt and Algae-X in-line fuel conditioners were installed on all the engines. The fuel additive system helps eliminate downtime and reduces costs because it extends the fuel filter life by quite a bit said owner and dredge superintendant Barry King. Pictured are the dredge tied up to a barge containing a crane used for moving equipment and the tug Jessica Joy. Talking to IDR from Illinois Waterway Mile 147 on October 23 2008 King said that the dredge has a production rate of 600 cubic yards per hour and has pumped 21000 feet aided by a booster on an idler barge behind the dredge.
