Van Oord has won a contract to build a new fishing port at the Port of Champerico, Guatemala. The contract value is €24 million.

The project will be partly financed by a Dutch finance export plan (ORET). The project has an execution period of 18 months.

The project involves the construction of two breakwaters and jetties, dredging the harbor basin and access channel, and installing the necessary utilities. The new harbor will benefit the economy of the Retalhuleu region in Guatemala.

Krishnapatnam Access Channel

Van Oord has also won a contract to dredge an access channel to the Port of Krishnapatnam on the east coast of India, 180 kilometers north of Chennai.

The contract value is approximately EUR 16 million. The client is Navayuga Engineering Company Ltd. of India. The project will commence in the autumn and has an eight-month through-put time.

The project involves dredging a 16-meter-deep deep, 10-kilometer-long access channel. The dredged material will be deposited at sea. Van Oord will be deploying a trailing hopper suction dredger on the project. The company carries out dredging work in India on a regular basis via its subsidiary Van Oord India Private Ltd.
