H.R. Wallingford Acquires DRL

Nick Bray, director of Dredging Research Ltd. (DRL), has announced that the company has been acquired by H.R. Wallingford Ltd.

On October 1, DRL became an independent group operating within H.R. Wallingford.

“This change to DRL will allow us to maintain and enhance the range of services provided to our clients,” said Bray. “In many respects, DRL will continue as before but with the benefit of additional staff joining the DRL team. DRL will also have access to a broader technical capability through H.R. Wallingford’s extensive skills and experience in closely related fields,” he said.

Bray will continue as director of DRL, and Dr. Mike Dearnaley of H.R. Wallingford, will also serve as director of DRL. The DRL group manager at H.R. Wallingford is Michael Costaras.

H.R. Wallingford is a consultancy and research firm specializing in civil engineering hydraulics and the water environment. Clients are private companies, local and national governments, the European Commission and international funding agencies. The company has ongoing projects in 60 countries.

DRL is a dredging consultancy, founded in 1989, that specializes in all sectors of the dredging and reclamation industry. The company carries out research in dredging and its environmental effects. DRL’s sister company, DRL Software Ltd, markets the products of the company’s research into suspended sediment measurement and allied activities.
