Teledyne Benthos Introduces New Acoustic Release

Teledyne Benthos launched its new R12K Acoustic Release based on customer input and user assessments. The Model R12K Deep Sea Acoustic Transponding release is the first product in the Benthos release line to benefit from this new electronics design. The new units are digital signal processor (DSP)-based allowing the move from audible status confirmations to visual signal confirmations.

Other enhanced features for the R12K units include battery voltage indication on command including percentage remaining; unit tilt measurement 0 to 180 degrees (+/- one percent) available on command; and release status confirmation on command.

The company said it is designed for full ocean depth mooring recovery applications with a stainless steel package and a 5000-kg (about 11000-pound) load rating.
