Don Hayes Moves to University of Louisiana

Don Hayes, formerly with the University of Utah, joined the faculty at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in January 2007 as an Endowed Professor of Civil Engineering.

He will also serve as Co-Director of the newly formed Institute for Coastal Ecology and Engineering (ICEE). ICEE will integrate science and engineering research across campus and foster interdisciplinary approaches to coastal environmental issues, coastal restoration, and coastal protection. ICEE is involved in projects in coastal Louisiana and other areas of the Gulf Coast, the Everglades, and the Great Salt Lake. Dredging, dredged material management, and beneficial use of dredged sediments will be integral components of ICEE’s efforts.

Dr. Hayes has been involved in dredging issues, contaminated sediment management, and wetland restoration for more than 25 years.
