Book on Falls of the Ohio Available

The Louisville District has published a new book, “Triumph at the Falls,” written by Dr. Leland R. Johnson, a historian specializing in Corps history, and Chuck Parrish, District Historian.

The book traces the efforts in the past 200 years to provide safe navigation around the Falls of the Ohio River, and examines the numerous locks and dams at this location.

Many images in the book illustrate the dangers at the Falls, construction methods, the evolution of boat traffic, floods in the area, and a wide variety of other topics of river interest.

The soft-cover book contains 340 pages and is available at no charge. To order, contact the Louisville District Public Affairs Office at 600 Doctor MLK Jr. Place; Attn: Public Affairs, CELRL-PA; Louisville, Kentucky, 40202. Phone: +1-502-315-6766 or 7903.
