Input on Corps Survey Manual Part of Hydro 09

The U.S. Hydro 2009 Conference will include a workshop on the Corps of Engineers Hydrographic Surveying Engineering Manual which is scheduled for updating. Led by Bill Bergen Ray Williams and Bob Mann the discussion will allow attendees to identify areas of concern in the present document and offer possible solutions updates and clarification. Recommendations will be recorded for submittal to the work group responsible for the Engineering Manual update.

This workshop is one of 13 on various topics to be held during the conference which will be at the Sheraton Waterside Hotel in Norfolk Virginia on May 11-14. Other workshop topics are tides side-scan sonar and multi-beam sonar among others.

This is the 12th annual Hydro conference by the Hydrographic Society of America (THSOA). The conferences alternate between the U.S. and Canada. Technical presentations will be on hydrographic surveying multi-beam and side scan sonar data management electronic charting marine archaeology and related issues.

The Sheraton Waterside is adjacent to the Waterside Marina where on-water demonstrations by providers of hydrographic equipment and software will be held.
The conference banquet will be held on Wednesday May 13 at Nauticus a contemporary museum that uses Norfolk’s harbor to showcase global maritime commerce and the U.S. Navy.
