Teams Submit Bids For Miami Tunnel
The State of Florida announced on March 5 that three teams had submitted bids to build and operate a tunnel that will connect Miami’s large cargo and cruise port with the interstate highway system and remove thousands of heavy truck and bus trips a year from busy downtown Miami streets. The Florida Department of Transportation now begins an extensive review process that will analyze all aspects of the proposals including price.
The successful bidder will design, build, finance, operate and maintain the Port of Miami Tunnel over a 35-year period. A contract is expected to be awarded in May.
