KINGS BAY ENTRANCE CHANNEL DREDGING COMPLETED

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District announced that the Kings Bay Entrance Channel dredging project was completed by April 12, about a month ahead of schedule.

Kings Bay is located on the Georgia coast, just north of Jacksonville, Florida. The entrance channel supports the passage of Trident submarines to the Kings Bay Naval Base.

About 1.2 million cubic yards of material was removed from the channel and placed on Nassau County beaches, the near shore, and in a disposal area.
