STR INVESTS IN SONAR SYSTEM AND UNVEILS BATTERY PACK

Subsea Technology and Rentals (STR) announced the delivery of the first ever deep-water rated titanium-housed NORBIT iWRMS wideband multibeam sonar system.

The curved array wideband multibeam sonar will be employed by STR customers for wide swath bathymetric survey operations from surface vessels utilising the integrated GNSS-aided inertial navigation system whilst maintaining flexibility as an ROV “ready” multibeam system rated to 4000m water depth.

STR also unveiled its new subsea rechargeable battery pack (SeaCell) and charger system (SeaCharge) to complement its existing portfolio of specialist equipment.

The STR battery pack uses environmentally acceptable NiMH technology. The system incorporates voltage temperature and charge/discharge current monitoring. The battery pack also includes output overload short circuit and over-discharge protection. The charger system is fully automatic and has been designed to yield optimal performance and reliability from the battery pack. The system features battery refresh two-stage bulk charging and pulsed trickle charging to extend battery life.
