AQUA SURVEY’S NEW PRODUCT HELPS DETECT UXO
To help dredgers avoid unexploded ordinance (UXO) in the materials they are pulling from submerged lands Aqua Survey has developed the Electromagnetic Pipe Metal Detection Alarm System (EPMPAS).
While not common UXO in the form of bombs munitions or parts of either has been pulled from the ocean floor and pumped onto beaches. The EPMPAS will alert dredging crews when potential UXO is coming through the pipeline increasing the safety for both the crews and those just walking on the beach.
The alarm can be placed between the seafloor suction head and the dredge itself or along the pipelines transporting the sand. Crews will determine the best placement and should develop protocols for after the alarm sounds.
