POTTER DREDGES NEAR ALTON ILLINOIS

The Corps of Engineers’ dredge Potter named after Brig. Gen. Charles Lewis Potter was doing maintenance dredging of the channel at Mile 203 of the Upper Mississippi River near Alton Illinois at the end of June.

The Potter is a dustpan dredge with a 32-inch discharge pipeline capable of dredging 50000 to 60000 cubic yards per day. It used an 832-footlong floating pontoon pipeline.
