|!||!|

In early May Damen delivered trailing suction hopper dredge Barito Equator its largest to date to Indonesia based Pelayaran Fortuna Nusantara Megajaya (PFNM). The dredge started work on the 890-km (553 mile) long Barito River in South Kalimantan. The river is a key cargo and transport link and prone to heavy siltation and Indonesia has invested greatly to improve navigation on the waterway.

The build took place with assistance from Damen Technical Cooperation (DTC) engineering from Damen Shipyards Gorinchem and the complete trailing dredging system from Damen Dredging Equipment. Damen Marine Components delivered the rudder installation and gearbox as well as a host of other components. With an overall length of 80.35 meters (50 feet) the TSHD 2500 has a trailing dredging depth of 22 meters (13..7 feet) with 750 mm dredging pipe. Discharge is via bottom doors and bow coupling.
