Kongsberg GlobalSim Chosen in Montreal

The Maritime Employers Association (MEA) of Montreal, Canada awarded Kongsberg GlobalSim a contract to supply several K-Sim Lift Training Simulators for heavy lift port equipment. The simulator system will include training modules for seven different types of heavy lift equipment, and will feature three different student-training stations to expand the training program in Montreal.

BBA Offers Bolt On Pump Package

BBA Pumps introduces the bolt-on pump package. These units feature the BA-C pump, coupled to a diesel engine with the control panel and mounted on a galvanized sub-frame. The frames can be customized with a lifting bale or protection bars. These auto prime pumps have a capacity of 100 cubic meters/hour to a maximum of 1,750 cubic meters/hour (7700 US GPM) and a head up to a maximum of 250mwc (800 feet).

CARIS Accepting Images for Annual Calendar

CARIS is now accepting submission for its annual calendar contest calendar contest. CARIS software users are invited to submit their favorite CARIS images, including geospatial datasets, maps, charts, 3-D views and more. Images can be entered into the contest on the CARIS website. The submission deadline is September 26, 2014.

IHC Sealing Solutions Achieves VGP Compliance

IHC Sealing Solutions received a third-party verification from DNV GL, the world’s largest ship and offshore classification society, in July. Now, IHC’s SUPREME Ventus™ and SUPREME Athmos™ seals (that guarantee zero oil emissions) are now compatible with mineral oils that are used in U.S. waters in compliance with the Vessel General Permit (VGP).

CT Systems officially released its first dredging computer called GeoDredge, which houses all the necessary components and acts as a hardware platform for the Viking software. The company said this makes for simple installation and maintenance. The goal of CT Systems is that almost any operator will be able to use the system without any prior extensive training.

The Port Newark Container Terminal (PNCT) added three post-Panamax ship-toshore cranes to the terminal. These cranes can accommodate larger vessels and improve the terminal’s capacity. Located on the Newark Bay, PNCT maintains 19 percent of the market share in the Port of New York and New Jersey.

Port Everglades Updates Master Plan

The Broward County board of county commissioners, which governs Port Everglades, approved the port’s 2013 master plan on June 24, which outlines its plan for growth over the next 20 years. It identifies $1.6 billion in capital investment to improve productivity for cargo, as well as cruise and petroleum businesses.
