Jewel Fisher Dies

Jewel Fisher former partner with her husband King in Kingfisher Marine Services died on Monday July 12 2010 at her home in Port Lavaca Texas. She was 91.

Her children included daughters Linda (Mrs. Tim) Laquay former co-owner of T.W. LaQuay Dredging and Mrs. Waymon Boyd wife of Waymon Boyd who is vice chairman of Kingfisher Marine Service. A host of grandchildren great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren will remember Mrs. Fisher with love.

Mrs. Fisher was involved in the management of Kingfisher Marine Services for the 58-years of the Fishers’ ownership of the company. Mrs. Fisher had a rich history of community involvement – she served on many community boards including the hospital board and gave tirelessly of her time to many community activities. Mrs. Fisher always pursued personal achievements as well. She was the first certified woman pilot in Calhoun County Texas. She remained a voracious reader often reading two books each week until her passing.
