This afternoon the United States House of Representatives approved, by a vote of 406-14, the bi-partisan Water Resources Development Act of 2005, H.R. 2864, that authorizes 700 transportation, flood control, hydropower, water supply, beach renourishment, environmental restoration and recreation projects and studies.

AAPA Applauds House Vote on Water Resources Bill

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (July 14, 2005) After a successful floor vote in the U.S. House of Representatives today to approve passage of a Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) authorization bill, American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) President/CEO Kurt Nagle applauded committee and subcommittee leaders for championing the legislation, noting that this is a prelude to conference and final passage of one of the most critically-needed authorization bills of this session.

Starkel, Breerwood, Labure Promoted at New Orleans District

Maj. Murray Starkel has been named deputy commander of the Corps of Engineers New Orleans District, and Gregory Breerwood has been named deputy district engineer for Project Management. They are the number two and number three executives, respectively, of the District. In addition, Linda Labure was promoted to chief of the Real Estate Division.
