WEDA Pacific Chapter to Meet in St. Augustine

The Western Dredging Association's Eastern Chapter of the will meet in conjunction with the Annual Corps/Industry Regional Dredging Meeting of the North and South Atlantic Divisions (NAD and SAD). The event will be held on October 12, 13 & 14 at Casa Monica Hotel, St. Augustine, Florida, 904-827-1888

Reservations must be made no later than September 12, 2004. Rooms are blocked under “Western Dredging”. The room rate for government employees is $65.00, otherwise $149.00 per night. The hotel is located located within the historic city of St. Augustine. It is recommend that attendees fly into Jacksonville International Airport and rent a car. Valet parking is available at the Hotel for $15.00 per night and it is recommended (parking can be premium).

The focus of this year’s program will be “Dredging Today and In the Future”. The North and South Atlantic Divisions of the Corps of Engineers will have a three-hour block to cover FY 05 Dredging Schedules and any other navigation issues they desire to present. The District Dredging Schedules will include channel maintenance, new channel work, beach restoration and periodic nourishment. Ports from the East Coast will present their plans for the future and other related dredging topics. The luncheon speaker will talk about the history of St. Augustine. Time will be provided to tour the historic area including Fort Castillo de San Marcos,
