Furuno Introduces Navigation Equipment Upgrades

Furuno has rolled out two upgraded products for navigation—the NavPilot 300 and the Black Box NavNet TZtouch2 system.

The NavPilot 300 is an autopilot designed for center consoles with outboard engines and drive by wire systems on small to mid-size boats. Traditionally, the NavPilot series gathers data about the user’s boat handling on every voyage and adjusts to react quicker and more precisely to the autopilot’s commands. The NavPilot 300 adds a single-DIN, 4.1-inch color LCD and new Gesture Controller. The controller can control the vessel’s steering from anywhere onboard within 10 meters (32 feet) of the helm, using Bluetooth technology. This enables point and click steering.

Furuno’s other new product is the Black Box NavNet TZtouch2 system, the TZT2BB. The new system uses the multi-function display of the original NavNet TZtouch2 system, but packs it into a black box configuration with dual-display capability. The unit has processing power to drive two separate touch-screen displays, such as Furuno’s 17, 19 or 24-inch Multi Touch displays, even with different monitor resolutions and aspect ratios. It supports full HD video input in HDMI format. As an option on the new model, an external keyboard can be added. A retrofit kit will be available as an option to convert NavNet 3D’s MFDBB keyboard for use with the new TZT2BB. The navigation network has built in WiFi, so it can be controlled and viewed via free phone and tablet apps.
