Damen Delivers Dredge to Dredging Africa

Damen Shipyards Cape Town (DSCT) will be delivering a Cutter Suction Dredge (CSD) 250 to Dredging Africa (Pty). The contract was signed during DSCT’s first African Dredging seminar that was held in October 2017.

CSD’s play an important role in Africa, used to maintain drinking water reservoirs in the country. Dredging Africa will use the new dredge for contracts in South Africa and Southern Africa at large. DSCT will support Dredging Africa with ongoing service and maintenance of the dredge.

Damen plans to deliver the dredge in March as it has the vessel in stock. It is the company’s practice to manufacture standardized dredges that are often built for stock and customized for clients’ needs. Its CSD’s have a high production to low operating cost ratio, low noise and vibration, and can be transported easily in just three containers.
