WEDA Goes To Hawaii

Plans are proceeding for the Western Dredging Association’s (WEDA) 33rd Annual Western Hemisphere Conference and the Texas A & M 44th Annual Dredging Seminar - entitled So That Ships May Pass. The joined events will be held in Waikiki, Oahu, Hawaii at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort on August 25 through 28.
“This Dredging Conference, we are certain, is a conference that will be attractive to anyone who is interested in dredging, marine engineering and construction, and the enhancement of the marine environment,” said Larry Patella, WEDA executive director. “Included in this professional group are dredgers, engineers, academicians, environmentalist and many others throughout the world dredging community.”
The event includes three days of technical presentations and adjacent exhibits.
Patella has arranged a pre-conference tour of the Arizona Memorial and Pearl Harbor on August 25.
“There, attendees will be transported to the morning of December 7, 1941,” said Patella. “At the memorial you will view a film of the attack and browse through the historic artifacts on display, followed by a tour of some of Hawaii’s most historic sites. A post-conference tour to other Hawaiian Islands is being explored,” he said.
The 21st Annual George Watts Open Golf Tournament will be held on Sunday, August 25 at the Koolina Golf Course.
