Damen Delivers Sand Dredge Clair de Lune to MFW Dredging in Nigeria

Damen Dredging Equipment has delivered a CSD500 model cutter suction dredge to MFW Dredging in Nigeria for construction sand mining. The delivery included the dredge and spud barge, a workboat and three personnel carriers. The dredge was transported by BACO-liner* to Port Harcourt, and will be used to mine sand. * A BACO liner opens at the bow, and dredges and other vessels can be floated in. This eliminates hoisting and hazardous deck transport.

On the Cover: Enon Sand and Gravel Buys Vertical Clamshell Dredge System

Last fall, Enon Sand and Gravel of Enon, Ohio purchased a used 10 cubic-yard clamshell dredge system built by Supreme Manufacturing. The dredge replaced their existing dragline. Two large ongoing construction projects with more on the horizon, and borings in their gravel pit showing pay material to 100 feet deep drove the decision to purchase the system.

Judge Issues Ruling In Delaware River Dredging Controversy

In the first week of the New Year, attorneys for the Corps of Engineers asked Judge Sue Robinson of the United States District Court for Delaware to relax her December hold temporarily blocking any dredging of the Delaware River to 45 feet along a 100-mile stretch. On January 27, Judge Robinson ruled against Delawares injunction, clearing the way for the Corps to proceed with deepening the channel to 45 feet.

Arkholas New Dredge System Triples Ability to Load Barges

In 2009, Dredging Supply Company delivered a new 22-inch by 20-inch Custom Electric Marlin class, self-propelled, hydraulic cutter suction dredge to Arkhola Sand and Gravels operation in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
