Van Antwerp Nominated Corps Chief

On February 2, the president announced the nomination of LTG Robert L. (Van) Van Antwerp to be the 52d Chief of Engineers. The nomination expected to be considered by the Senate in the near future.

In a letter to Corps employees, LTG Carl Strock, existing chief, stated: “General Van Antwerp and I have served together for many years. He is a caring and gifted leader with a strong sense of values and a tremendous breadth and depth of experience in the Army and the Corps. His previous service as a district and division commander makes him especially well suited and qualified for this position.

“I will continue to serve as your chief throughout the confirmation process.

“I am deeply grateful to serve with each and every one of you and intensely proud of your extraordinary commitment, competence, and selfless service to our nation at home and abroad. I know you will serve our new chief in the same exemplary way.

“Times of transition require that we all remain dedicated and diligent to continuing our mission in the same professional and responsive manner as the nation has come to expect.”
