C&C Technologies Surveying in Key West
The deliverables include color-coded plots of the acceptance areas. The charts are color coded to indicate channel bottom materials that are above project grade, below project grade, above allowable over-depth grade, and areas below over-depth grade. Volume computations are determined for each of these categories of channel bottom.
Several highly qualified multibeam specialists and surveyors, Sam Alleman, Eric Quirk, and Philip Patin assist the C & C survey crew, supervised by Party Chief Ken Cormier. To launch the project, C & C's Operations Manager Paige Melancon, and software development specialist Al Cousson, were sent to meet with the Corps and contractor personnel to explain C & C's procedures and write new software to meet the needs of this specific project.
The survey is being performed using C & C's R/V Inland Surveyor equipped with an EM 3002 multibeam echo sounder, navigation computers, C-Nav® RTK GPS and Hypack® volume computation software.
"To date, the project has been extremely successful," said Frank Lipari, C & C 's government contracts manager. "We expect to continue to support the project's quality assurance needs over the next year, until completion of the dredging operations."
C & C Technologies provides AUV operations and a variety of survey services, including high-accuracy globally-corrected GPS services, marine construction surveys, high-resolution geophysical surveys, and geotechnical surveys, including full laboratory testing.
