CHIDA Plans Shanghai Conference in May

The China Dredging Association (CHIDA) and the Eastern Dredging Association (EADA), in association with the Shanghai Waterway Bureau, will hold an international Dredging Congress and exhibition in Shanghai on May 20 through 23 (Tuesday through Friday, 2003. The theme is “Dredging and Social Advancement, Economic Development and Environment Protection.”

The congress will be held at the Shanghai International Convention Center, and the official hotel is the Orient Riverside hotel, near the center.

"The role played by dredging in the society, economy and environment is becoming greater and greater, and its effect on sustainable development for human beings is more prominent” write the organizers.

The paper committee had received 50 papers by the end of July 2002.

Three technical visits are planned for May 23: the site of regulation works for the deepwater channel in the Yangtze estuary, the Scientific Research Center of Estuarine Shore, and the large-capacity trailing suction dredge Zin Hai Long.

A social program, including congress dinner, will be available for participants and their partners. The accompanying persons program will include several trips around Shanghai.
